MEET THE OWNERS: Melissa & Cameron Hill.

How did we get here?

In January 2012, Cameron was a firefighter EMT called to a horrific scene. His job that day was to set up the landing zone for a helicopter needed to airlift me to the nearest trauma center after I survived a brutal domestic violence attack by my ex-boyfriend.

One year later, fate stepped in. I was speaking publicly for the very first time about my story at a luncheon and Cameron was there. Over the following weeks, we crossed paths a few more times… and, well, the rest is history. We started dating, fell in love, and got married.

In 2015, Cameron proposed at a Tampa Bay Rays game where I was throwing out the first pitch…a moment that made international headlines, which was crazy. What we didn’t know then was how wild our next chapter would be.

A kind couple who owned alpacas saw our story and wanted to do something meaningful. Their hearts were touched and, long story short, they gifted us a few alpacas before we were ready or knew what we were doing!

But… God had a plan. We accepted the challenge, fell in love with these silly, gentle animals and discovered how truly healing it felt to be around them after everything we had been through.

Fast forward a few years… Cameron has since retired from the fire department after a strong 20-year career, and I continue my full-time role as Executive Director of Hands Across the Bay, helping survivors and families in crisis.

Together, we have built The Remedy Farm, home to our 7 alpacas, 23 chickens, 2 bunnies, 1 dog and a whole llama llove! ;) The farming journey truly began when the alpacas arrived in our backyard in January 2020.

It has been an adventure ever since, one filled with hard work, faith and farming. We have learned so much and continue to grow our dream and our little slice of heaven on earth.

Thank you for being here with us!
